After a firmware update (INAV) it was unplugged, and the next time it was plugged in, \u003cstrong\u003ethe FC wouldn't boot\u003c\/strong\u003e: no status LEDs and no USB connection. A factory reset made no difference.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e5V still passed through (the receiver and GPS powered up), but the board drew an unusual \u003cstrong\u003e0.3–5W on USB alone\u003c\/strong\u003e.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eThe board was conformal-coated. Under UV light, the coating had \u003cstrong\u003eburnt off one part only: the inductor of the voltage regulator for the HD (9V) system\u003c\/strong\u003e.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e\n\u003cstrong\u003eBrainFPV support reviewed photos, agreed it's a hardware fault\u003c\/strong\u003e, and approved a replacement.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003c\/ul\u003e\n\n\u003ch3\u003eOur take\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cul\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eA failed HD-system regulator that's likely dragging down the board, so treat the FC as \u003cstrong\u003edead\u003c\/strong\u003e.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e\n\u003cstrong\u003eCould score:\u003c\/strong\u003e an electronics repairer could replace the failed regulator\/inductor. The rest of the board may well be fine.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e\n\u003cstrong\u003eWorst case:\u003c\/strong\u003e parts or a learning board.
