Some hardware requirements for using ASA 3D printing filament
At Phaser FPV, we want to help our customers find the ideal items and materials to suit their specific needs. So before purchasing ASA 3D printing filament from our online store, we encourage you to ensure that your 3D printer meets the following requirements for optimal printing with ASA:
- A heated bed with temperatures of 90-110 degrees Celsius (no enclosure required)
- An extruder capable of temperatures between 220 and 245 degrees Celsius (no special hotend required)
- No part cooling fan required
We also recommend placing a layer of Kapton tape on the heated bed (or PET sheets if it’s a glass bed) in order to mitigate warping. Given the higher temperatures that are required for printing with ASA filament, be sure to adjust heating/cooling throughout the printing process.
And finally, try using controlled exposure to acetone vapours to smooth out your ASA printing – this technique is referred to as “vapour smoothing”.
