PEV (Powered Electric Vehicle or Plug-in Electric Vehicle) is also known as PMD (personal mobility devices).
It generally refers to small transport electric vehicles for recreation and last mile transport and includes Electric skateboards, electric scooters, electric bicycles, electric unicycles & OneWheels.
That depends on what type, but generally anywhere from 20km to 100km with speeds up to 40km/h!
It is currently illegal to ride an electric personal mobility device in a public area in most states?Ā
Electric Riders Australia is a advocator for the legalization of PEV Australia Wide and currently has a list of all local Grassroot groups. Find your local here.

In 6 of the 8 Australian States and Territories, it is still currently illegal to ride an electric Personal Mobility Device in public areas as they lack any formal recognition or classification.
The National Transport Commission has released a report recommending a set of guidelines to be adopted into the Australian Road Rules, paving the way for the legalisation of these devices. However this must first be accepted unanimously by all members of the Infrastructure and Transport National Cabinet Reform Committee.
