Product Usage Guidelines

  • PETG/PCTG/TPU– If you are not careful with your 1st layer you can risk bonding the PETG/PCTG/TPU to the PEI surface. This will damage the surface. To prevent damage to the surface apply hairspray or PVA gluestick before printing PETG/PCTG/TPU on the PEI

Part Removal– Make sure your plate is at close to room temp (under 30C) before removing parts. If you remove the print when it is still hot it is more likely to damage the surface.

Easily remove 3D prints on printer by removing the spring steel plate, flexing it, and popping the print off. It's simple and makes the print removal process much easier.

This sheet offers great value, but takes some getting used to.

Now anyone who's used a Prusa printer will know that their flexible 'spring steel' sheets are a LOT nicer than having to scrape/pry prints off the glass/rigid plates of yore. I've used Prusa's textured, and smooth plates (I generally prefer to smooth plate) however when several plates all need replacing in the not-too-distant future, I decided to try this plate, and see how it goes.

Now there's a lot to like about this plate, in that it offers BOTH a textured side, and a smooth side. This is somewhat different from the 'Prusa originals' where both sides are smooth or both sides are textured. I believe there's a 'satin' textured one (an in-between level of smoothness/texturing), but I don't own that one. The down side to this plate is that once a particular side has been damaged/worn, you still need to buy a replacement plate if you want to use a particular texture level.

Frankly, this plate needs to be handled a little differently. While the heat bed may say it's at the set temperature, the top of it seems little cooler, according to my thermometer. It seems to need the heat bed turned up between 1-5 degrees Celsius to accurately reach a set temperature on the top of the build plate, compared to the Prusa branded smooth sheet at least. Your mileage may vary. I don't think this affects people who print PLA or those who live in warmer climates, but for a predominantly PETG printer in Canberra.. that is something to consider.

Overall, I've only done about 10 prints on this plate, and I'm still a bigger fan of the smooth plates and once I got it 'dialed in' works perfectly well... but the one time I used the textured side, it worked fine too.. again with a higher temp setting. I am sorry, I'm still waiting for Aramex to deliver my phone... so no pics, but I hope this detailed review helps someone out there.

All the best with your 3D printing!

I hope this helps.
