What was reported

Picture froze mid-flight then faded to black; no boot logo or video since. Was powered from 5V USB (18650 power bank).

Our take

Untested by us. Likely screen/backlight or main board, not the receiver. Cheap fix if it is a loose ribbon or backlight; otherwise parts (SteadyView module, faceplate, strap, fan).

Repair hint

Open it up: check the screen ribbon and backlight first.

Are you looking to buy LUCKY DIP · Skyzone Cobra X Analog FPV Goggles (SteadyView): No Video / No Boot Logo, Sold As-Is in Australia?

LUCKY DIP: faulty return, sold as-is. No returns, no warranty.

This listing is for one pair of Skyzone Cobra X analog FPV box goggles (5.8GHz, SteadyView receiver). They came to us in September 2022 as a faulty unit collected for the manufacturer, and have been on the shelf since. Rather than freight a faulty pair back overseas, we're letting a tinkerer have a go.

How the price works: it starts at $90 and drops every night at midnight for 30 days, down to a $30 floor. The floor price only lasts 24 hours. If nobody grabs it, the price goes back up to $90 and the 30-day countdown starts again. Wait too long and you could miss it, or have to wait another month.

What was reported

  • Mid-flight the picture froze, then the screen faded to black.
  • Since then there's no Skyzone boot logo and no video when powered on.
  • It was being run from 5V USB power (an 18650 power bank).

Our take

  • Not tested by us. A freeze then fade to black points to the screen, its backlight/driver or the main board, not the receiver.
  • Could score: if it's a loose screen ribbon or a dead backlight, it's a cheap fix and you've got a full set of Cobra X goggles.
  • Worst case: spare parts: the SteadyView receiver module, faceplate, foam, strap, fan and case are all usable for another Cobra X.

Specs (when working)

  • Skyzone Cobra X analog box goggles · 5.8GHz SteadyView diversity receiver
  • High-resolution screen · built-in battery bay · 2x SMA antenna ports
