Why Choose Bambu Lab R1?

CO₂ laser. Wood to glass. Tabletop decor to furniture.
Makes laser work easy
A 55W CO₂ laser with Bambu Lab's proven motion control, making laser work faster, finer, and easier.
Thick cuts with one pass
The 55W CO₂ laser cuts up to 18mm walnut and 20mm acrylic in a single pass - fast, clean, and without the extra passes that slow you down. (Requires the medium- or long-focus lens, sold separately; all references to wood refer to plywood.)
Go furniture-scale
With the auto-feed conveyor, R1 handles material up to 3 metres long. Pass-through feeding and deep cutting turn full-length panels into tables, shelving and furniture.
Bring out the best in every material.
Powered by a 55W CO₂ laser, R1 works across a wide range of materials — from wood and acrylic to glass, leather, fabric, and more — each bringing its own character to the piece.

Full Material List

*Max. thickness varies by lens (short/medium/long focus). Thickness and surface finish affect results; please always follow the recommended settings.
What you mark is what you cut
TriSense System
Drop in your workpiece - crooked, curved, or tiny. R1 locates it, reads teh surface, and tracks every move as it works, so every line lands exactly where you set it. This is TriSense. What you mark is what you cut.
Follows the curve
From curved cups and spheres to uneven surfaces. Height sensing follows every rise and fall to keep the engraving sharp and consistent across the entire surface.
*At launch, only Cylinder Processing is supported. Revolve Shape Processing will be added in a future firmware update.
Accurate on clear materials
R1 keeps the surface measurement accurate even on transparent materials like glass and clear acrylic, so engraving stays precisely placed.
Finds the tiny stuff
The Toolhead Camera pinpoints small objects and places fine detail exactly where you want it.
Traces the line
Cut around a printed design, trim a sticker, or follow a drawn outline. The Toolhead Camera traces the edge and keeps the cut precisely on path.
The motion control that keeps our printers precise. Now in R1.
Vibration compensation
When the toolhead changes direction, a split-second shake can ripple the line that follows. R1's vibration compensation cancels it out, keeping lines crisp right out of the turn - the same technology as in Bambu Lab 3D printers.
Even tone at 1000mm/s
Higher speeds usually mean shallower engraving. R1 Compensates as it moves, keeping engraving depth consistent at up to 1,000mm/s - while completing the same job nearly 3x as fast.
*Based on image engraving at maximum speed and acceleration settings: R1 at 1,000 mm/s and 20,000 mm/s², compared with a typical CO₂ laser at its maximum settings.
Vision Encoder
Mechanical accuracy can drift with use. The Vision Encoder corrects for it, keeping absolte motion accuracy within 0.1mm across the full work area. Draw 300mm. Cut 300mm.
*Vision Encoder sold separately.
Tricky setup? Solved
Auto Laser Alignment
Uusally, aligning the optical path meant test shots, manual adjustments, and trial and error - with no telling how long it might take. With R1, that chore comes down to one small sensor. Mount the Laser Alignment Sensor on the toolhead, and it measures the beam, detects the misalignment, and corrects the path automatically.
Follow it on the screen

R1 puts a touchscreen right on the machine. Follow every job in real time, watch the optical path calibrate, and check the machine's health status - all without a computer.
Material, recognised
R1 recognises Bambu Lab material automatically and applies the right power and speed, so you can skip test grids and manual parameter setup.
Safer by design. Made for everyday spaces.
Crossflow Ventilation
Most lasers rely on a single exhaust fan. R1 brings fresh air in from one side and exhausts smoke from the other, creating a steady crossflow through the entire chamber.
Class 1 laser safety

R1 is Class 1 under IEC 60825-1 in standard enclosed use. Laser radiation stays contained inside the enclosure, so no safety goggles or dedicated laser room are needed.
*Important: When used with the riser base or the auto-feed accessory, the enclosure is no longer complete and the laser cutter changes from an enclosed Class 1 device to a Class 4 device, requiring CO2 laser-safety eyewear, and is intended for professional use by trained personnel only.
Lid-open stop

Open the lid and the laser stops immediately. It stays disabled whiel the lid is open.
Flame detection

Built-in sensors continuously watch for signs of flame and respond as soon as one is detected.
Emergency stop

One press cuts power to the machine immediately.
Same work area. Smaller footprint.
R1 delivers the same working area as a typical CO₂ laser while taking up about a third less space.
*Comparison based on external footprint vs. representative consumer CO2 lasers with equivalent working area, as measured by Bambu Lab. Actual size varies by model.

Specifications
