What was reported

Exact unit label lost. One of the 2023–24 Walksnail Mobula8 returns, where we confirmed a faulty gyro with heading drift: uncommanded yaw (sharp left twitches or slow drift) and the heading creeping in Betaflight while stationary.

Our take

Looks near new; not powered up by us. Check the Betaflight setup tab for heading creep. A replacement Mobula8 AIO fixes a gyro fault and keeps the Walksnail VTX/camera, motors and frame.

Repair hint

Check heading drift in Betaflight; replace the AIO if the gyro is faulty.

Product details

Are you looking to buy LUCKY DIP · Happymodel Mobula8 85mm Walksnail (ELRS): Likely Gyro / Yaw Drift, Sold As-Is in Australia?

LUCKY DIP: faulty customer return, sold as-is. No returns, no warranty.

This listing is for one returned Happymodel Mobula8 85mm 1-2S HD whoop, Walksnail version, with ELRS. It looks pretty much new and has been on the returns shelf since it came back.

How the price works: it starts at $200 and drops every night at midnight for 30 days, down to an $80 floor. The floor price only lasts 24 hours. If nobody grabs it, the price goes back up to $200 and the 30-day countdown starts again. Wait too long and you could miss it, or have to wait another month.

About the photos: these are photos of a new one, for reference only. They don’t show this unit or its condition. Want photos of the actual item? Email us at hello@phaserfpv.com.au and we’ll send some.

What we know

The label for this exact unit didn't survive, but it's one of a small batch of Walksnail Mobula8 returns from 2023–24. The fault we confirmed on those was a faulty gyro with "heading drift": the quad yaws by itself, sometimes a sudden sharp twitch to the left, sometimes a slow continuous drift. On the bench, the heading in Betaflight creeps steadily even with the quad sitting still.

Our take

  • It looks near new, and nothing's visibly damaged. We haven't powered it up.
  • Most likely fault: the gyro on the AIO flight controller. Check the Betaflight setup tab: if the model slowly rotates while the quad sits still, that's it.
  • Could score: a replacement Mobula8 AIO fixes a gyro fault, and you keep the Walksnail VTX and camera, motors and frame. Some pilots also report recalibrating and filtering helps marginal gyros.
  • Worst case: great parts: the Walksnail camera/VTX alone is worth a big chunk of the price.
