What was reported
Box marked “DOA – overheating”. No other paperwork survived.
Our take
Not powered up by us. HDZero VTXs run hot by design and drop into thermal protection without airflow, which can look like a fault, so it may be fine. It may also have a failed regulator or RF stage.
Repair hint
Test with a fan over it or props spinning before calling it dead.

Are you looking to buy LUCKY DIP · HDZero Race V3 VTX (HDZ3143): DOA Overheating Return, Sold As-Is in Australia?
LUCKY DIP: faulty customer return, sold as-is. No returns, no warranty.
This listing is for one returned HDZero Race V3 digital HD video transmitter (HDZ3143). It came back to us marked as faulty and has been sitting on the returns shelf ever since. We could pay to freight it back to the overseas supplier, but we'd rather it went to someone who'll use it.
How the price works: it starts at $70 and drops every night at midnight for 30 days, down to a $20 floor. The floor price only lasts 24 hours. If nobody grabs it, the price goes back up to $70 and the 30-day countdown starts again. Wait too long and you could miss it, or have to wait another month.
About the photos: these are photos of a new one, for reference only. They don’t show this unit or its condition. Want photos of the actual item? Email us at hello@phaserfpv.com.au and we’ll send some.
What was reported
All we have is the note on the box: "DOA – overheating". No other paperwork survived.
Our take
We haven't powered it up. Worth knowing: HDZero VTXs run hot by design and need airflow. Powered on a bench without props spinning or a fan, they heat up fast and drop into thermal protection, which can look like a fault. So it might be fine. Or it may genuinely have a failed regulator or RF stage.
- Could score: test it with a fan blowing over it (or in a quad with props on). It could be a working Race V3 for a fraction of retail.
- Worst case: a genuinely faulty VTX, good for spare parts or as a mounting dummy for a build.
