Are you looking to buy Sunlu Rainbow Silk PLA Filament in Australia?

The Sunlu rainbow silk filament is new in Australia and has a glossy silk appearance. Sunlu Silk PLA is a perfect material for those who are looking to print an object with a smooth, glossy and silk-like finish in a big rainbow with no filament changes.

Sunlu is the company behind our favourite Filament Dryer. For best print results please always dry your filament even when it's sealed from the factory.

NOTE: Rainbow filaments vary each batch in colour and colour length. Do not take the photos on this site as an accurate colour as what you will receive. If you are needing 100% in the picture please do not buy this product, you may be disappointed. Rainbow filament is perfect for large prints wanting a rainbow effect such as vases. If you are printing small objects then it will likely be only one colour. If wanting small objects in rainbow you will need to print many of them on the same bed so that the rainbow effect is filtered across all the objects.

Great colours

I recently bought some rolls of multi-coloured PLA+ filament. It sticks well, prints nicely and the colours are as expected. I'm very happy with Phaser's customer service and delivery times.

Nice and Shiny

Filament prints really well and has a nice shine to it. The only thing that would make it better is if the color would transition faster.

Perfect prints every time

Love these colours so much. Would definitely like to see some more blues and purples like the kingfisher reels that are so hard to come across atm. But in the meantime, Sunlu bright rainbow will be just fine.

As above, super impressed and will continue to buy from you.

Works well, provided you keep it dry

Prints easily and super shiny. Make sure you keep it dry though as it tends to suck a little moisture from the air. It's been pretty humid here lately though.

Great filament

Prints well. I wish the colour changes were quicker. Small prints don't change. It prints solid prints every time though.

Prints good and has a silk shine to it, colors are not fast changing like pictures make it seem.

No problem with printing, 200 on hotend, 50 on bed, 50mm speed, mostly base settings on a ender 3 v2. Picture of the light house makes it seem like the colors will change quickly but thats not my experience. First print with it was a pumpkin that took 9.5 hours to print, was expecting it to have a few different colors. what i got was the pumpkin was all purple with just the last half inch transitioning to the blue. this is a mostly hallow print so i was not expecting more than 2-3 colors but felt kind of letdown with how slow the color changes. it has 7 bottom and top layers and 3 wall layers at .4mm thick. print is hollow but had supports up through the middle to print the top. diameter is 66mm and height 52mm. will take quite a big print with high percentage infill to get anything close to a print with more that 1-2 colors. I was able to get the effect i wanted, just not the multi colors on a single print.

At this point, SUNLU PLA+ is my default go-to

Picked up a spool of the Rainbow Silk PLA+, and like most of the SUNLU PLA+ filaments, I'm extremely happy. This stuff just prints well every time. Don't get me wrong, the more expensive stuff like PolyMax is pretty amazing, but the SUNLU prints well every. single. time and is super reasonably priced.I print on a Kingroon KP3, and I've found the sweet spot for temps on the Silk PLA+ is 215/65, but your mileage may vary. The color change on the rainbow is good, if not a bit gradual, but it's exactly what I was expected as compared to other rainbow filaments on the market. (I'm sure if I print at 100% infil, the change would be much more noticable).Packaging-wise, it's well done. Cardboard box, vacuum-sealed spool with the requisite DO-NOT-EAT packet. The spooling is tight and pretty even. This (and the other SUNLU PLA+'s I have) have yet to clog my nozzle at all (that award goes to Geeetech on more than one occasion), and this filament is super forgiving when it comes to playing around with temps, layer heights, and other settings. Basically, pick up this stuff as your default go-to and don't feel bad if you accidently spaghetti, because it's cheap. But conversely, it's consistent and of good quality quality.

Best I've used so far.

Other filaments, I've had to baby sit the machine to catch tangles, layers not sticking or the object just falling over. With this I have not had a single misprint, string, bubble or problem of any kind. Only complaint (probably my own settings) is that it sticks to my heated bed too good. It's really difficult to get the finished item off of the bed. Haven't printed anything big enough to really see the color effect, but the color I do get looks great. Fine detail, little clean up and no breakage. Photos were printed on a MP Delta mini.

has some bubbles

Don't get me wrong, i love SUNLU. i have been using them for a while now and have nothing but good to say about them but for some reason this filament has some what bubbles when printing. i try to dry the filament but for some reason it still comes out like it has bubbles. other then the bubbles issues it look amazing.

Did not print well

I bought this to print colorful mask clips for nurses at my Sister’s hospital. No matter how much I tweaked the temperature and speed settings, I could not get the layers to adhere to eachother.

Great filament that is easy to print with beautiful results.

This filament performed great! It printed very easily with minor adjustments. The color is beautiful and exactly what I expected. It does print a bit stringy in fine details, but easily fixed with a heat gun or lighter.

Rainbow filament absorbs too much moisture.

I bought a roll of this stuff and it printed well for the first day or two. After two days, I started getting underextrusions, eventually leading to a clogged nozzle. I tried upping the temp, as well as tested settings from that other reviewers had posted here on Amazon, but I kept getting jams no matter what I did. I suspected the filament was highly hydroscopic, so I measured the roll on my postal scale, recorded the results, and dried it in my food dehydrated overnight. When I weighed the roll the next day, it had lost over 8G in weight. That tells me this filament sucks up too much moisture. I would recommend that you store this roll in a sealed bag with desiccant anytime you're not using it. This version changes colors very slowly. You would need to print something very big to get more than 2 colors. I'm pretty disappointed by the performance of this filament to be honest.

Can be a pain with an all metal hot end

At first I had nothing but clogging with my all metal hot end. I finally realized that heat creep was the issue. I lowered the nozzle temp to 190C and it's doing way better. I might actually finish the print I bought this filament for.I bumped the review up to 4 stars because it seems to be working now and it looks great, but it took a lot of effort to get it to work and the recommended temperature range is too high.Maybe it wouldn't be as much of an issue with a ptfe hot end, I don't know.

Something wrong here...

I've been printing faceshields to donate, pretty much running 24/7 to the best of my ability with my Prusa i3 mk2 (not the S or themini but the original mk2).This filament printed beautiful up until 1/2 way through the spool. Then it was under extruding and failing. I switched to filament to rule out my printer and am getting consistent perfect prints again. It seems this filament is slightly undersized now, I'm going to run the current spool out and maybe come back to it after I get a few batches out to those that need them. I'm really disappointed cause people have been donating this filament for me to keep my facesheild project going and I this issue and question using it cause it's setting me back 😓

Bad roll maybe, but I won't get it again

I must have gotten a bad roll, but anytime I print with this filament, my prints are brittle, don't fuse together, etc. My prints have layer lines, weird rough areas where supports touch, and my last print had a weird vertical line that looked like braille. The color is amazing and the silk is smooth, but it just won't print for me

Easy to print, better for long prints to get color change.

Easy to print. Just wish the color change was not as long. This filament is better for long prints to get the color change.
